What to do with the old aluminum rooftop tv antenna?
We are doing roof work today and thinking about taking down the vintage TV antenna that's attached to our chimney. Do these still work? I know everything went to digital so we don't think it does but just want to make sure.
We were thinking about just scrapping it but is there a place where people buy them? Is this something TV history buffs collect? (I'm asking this because we just sold an old RCA set of rabbit ears on ebay, but I couldn't find this outside antenna on there)
We could just leave it there but don't want anymore damage to an already old chimney.
The analog roof antenna picks up digital signals? Then why was there this whole big to-do about getting a converter box and digital antenna? Now I'm confused

Then why was there this whole big to-do about getting a converter box and digital antenna?" >> There is no such thing as a digital or analog antenna. An antenna is an antenna. What is receives are carrier waves. In the analog age, those carrier waves carried analog signals. Now those carrier waves carry digital signals. The only need for a converter box is for analog TVs that can't process the digital signals. The box can process the digital signals, then converts the signal to analog, which an older TV can then process in turn.
Anything you see regarding "digital" antennas is pure marketing hype, or comes from someone who doesn't know what they are talking about.
