Anodized Aluminum

I'll buy chainmail, and I wonder which of the two is more durable.
Steel is much harder than aluminum (no matter how aluminum is treated). If only to see, then for aluminum ... is 1/3rd the weight. Ovi.schi is true that anodized aluminum Hard is the hardest surface for aluminum, but aluminum is still soft (compared to any type of steel) and can not be fully hardened.
