Plating Formula
Parallel Plate Capacitors Question, solving for capacitance... formula is incorrect?
Consider the parallel-plate capacitor shown below. The plates are each square measuring 1.3 m x 1.3 m and the spacing between the plates is d = 55 cm. There is no dielectric between the plates except air, which can be treated as a vacuum.
What is the capacitance of this capacitor?
.. Got this wrong using formula A/4pikd... why?
which means I couldn't solve this....
(c) If this capacitor is connected to a 12 V battery, how much charge will build up on each plate once it has been fully charged.
or this, since I don't have Q
(e) What is the magnitude of the Electric Field vector at this centrally located point between the plates
Mainly it is the first one we couldn't figure out. Help!
The problem statement has mixed units, m and cm. Could that be your problem? Your formula is the correct one so if you do everything in the proper units it should come out.
C = (1.3m)^2 / (4 pi x 9x10^9 x 0.55m)
part c just use Q = CV
part e : E = V/d
