what sex of lion head rabbit should get two males or two females ?
were thinking of getting two lion head rabbits and were wondering if we should get two boys or two girls .we don't really want a girl and a boy .also could someone tell me if there are any lion head breeders in suffolk
also is there any diseases that males or females can get .
To address previous answers-
1. If you decide on a buck and a doe bonded pair, they MUST BE spayed and neutered first to prevent unwanted litters. Otherwise, they WILL breed.
2. Does do not "commonly" get a disease on their genitals.
Anyway...
I would suggest two does (females). If you buy two littermates, they will pretty often get along with each other pretty well, even into adulthood.
DO NOT get two bucks (males) unless they are both neutered. They may get along for awhile, but around 4-6 months of age, they will start sexual maturation and will try to mount the other. This often gets aggrivating for the less dominant animal which can result in fights. If bucks fight, it is often to the death. In RARE circumstances, two bucks may be ok unneutered, but I wouldn't take the chance.
The best bonded pair is actually usually a neutered male and spayed female. They tend to bond relatively easily and enjoy each other's company. This is my highest recommendation.
