Is there any way to tell if a metal is brass or not?
I have antique bookends that I thought were brass and I was trying to clean them. They are not turning out like I hoped they would. Is there any way to find out if they are brass or if they are just some metal that was maybe painted to look antique or something of that nature? Now I dont know what they are. They are very heavy.
Uh oh. The magnet stuck. Now what? How do I restore these? Maybe they are supposed to look yucky.
Touch a magnet to it. Magnets don't stick to brass.
